Measurements setups in the D-band (between 110 and 170GHz) often start from “low” frequency measurements setups (below 40-50GHz) which are first up- and then down-converted using harmonic frequency mixer. These existing frequency converters are bulky and expensive.
The aim is to design the frequency converters using a 5th order harmonic mixer in an advance InP technology. This will enable use to use these converters in the future in our D-band measurement setup.
The thesis will therefore include
- Design and layout of amplifiers and frequency converters (mixers) in advanced InP technology
- Use and training in mm-wave simulations of planar (on chip) structure using Momentum of ADS
