The ever increase frequency in telecom results in an intensive use antenna arrays. In order to put more antenna elements together, there is the tendency to integrate the radiating antenna with the power amplifier.
This thesis aims to do a 2.4GHz antenna design in combination with an amplifier design. The computation of the antenna’s radiation pattern and the electromagnetic interaction between the antenna and power amplifier demands a careful co-simulation between both.
The thesis therefore comprises:
- the design of a patch antenna (possibly fed using a radiating slot in the ground plane) using electromagnetic simulations with Momentum in ADS,
- The co-design and co-simulation of a GaN-based (power) amplifier stage using discrete GaN power transistors
