17. Design of a 140GHz mm-wave power amplifier in InP HBT technology

The aim is to design and layout a class AB common base power amplifier which operates in the D-band. The challenging part in this thesis is the need to carefully determine the various parasitics and transmission line characteristics using the Moment field simulator available with the Advanced Design Systems software. This way, you get in touch with the new, challenging InP technology to be used in 140GHz 6G communication, and you are introduced in “the black art” of microwave design.

This thesis includes:

  • Design and layout of class AB common base power amplifier in advanced InP technology
  • Use and training in mm-wave simulations of planar (on chip) structure using Momentum of ADS
