ir. Ali Al-Zawqari
Ali Al-Zawqari was born and raised in Doha-Qatar. In June 2016, he obtained his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Qatar University. During his studies, he worked as an undergraduate researcher developing/accelerating computer vision algorithms. In July 2020, Ali obtained a master's degree in electrical engineering, specializing in "Information and Communication Technology systems," from the Bruface program between Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Université Libre de Bruxelles. His master's thesis work was around connecting graphical models with probabilistic logic. Before that, he spent two years between his bachelor's and graduate studies working as a mathematics teacher in the public school system in Qatar. This work was part of the Teach for Qatar fellowship program, which targeted the challenges faced by students in Qatar. Since October 2020, he has been a PhD researcher at the ELEC department in Vrije Universiteit Brussel, and his research revolves around machine learning, Graph theory, and Human Learning. Besides research, Ali is involved in teaching responsibilities for engineering graduate courses.
